Avis de décès de Hilda Cecilia Lesmeister check_circle

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hilda Cecilia Lesmeister on March 23, 2017 at Central Okanagan Hospice House. Hilda, the youngest of seven children, was born on January 14, 1928 in Claybank, SK to John and Patricia Weisbeck. The family moved to Kelowna when Hilda was approximately one year old and she attended school in Rutland area. After completing her education, she worked as a secretary at SunRype in Kelowna. She married Walter (Wally) Lesmeister in Kelowna in 1948 and shortly after they moved to Lumby, where she worked for Lumby Timber. After living in Lumby for a few years, they moved to Grand Forks, BC where they owned and operated the IGA grocery store. Wanting to come back to the Okanagan, they purchased the IGA grocery store in Winfield, where they lived for several years. After Wally passed away she sold her home and moved into Kelowna where she resided until her death. They loved curling and traveling and attended many bonspiels in the Interior. They traveled on many IGA trips, both on land and cruising, and later she traveled with a dear friend to Europe.

Hilda was predeceased by her husband, Wally; parents John and Patricia Weisbeck; three brothers, Manuel, John and Victor; and three sisters, Angelina Weisbeck, Patricia Holitzki and Emily Selzler. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Kay Weisbeck, several nieces and nephews and their extended families, and many friends. The family would like to express its thanks to the nurses and staff at Kelowna General Hospital and Central Okanagan Hospice House for their compassionate care of Hilda.

At Hilda’s request there will be no service. There will be a tea to Celebrate Hilda’s Life at Springfield Funeral Home on Thursday, March 30, 2017 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
