McCartney, Helen Mary Margaret, of Tweed, who previously lived in Belleville, Sault Ste. Marie and Timmins, passed away, surrounded by her loving family, at her residence in Tweed, on Monday, May 5th, in her 91st year. Helen was the daughter of the late Leo and Mary Ellen Farrell. She was predeceased by her husband, the Late William Harold (Skit) McCartney. She is survived by her daughter, Penny Anne (Raymond) Blum, of Sault Ste Marie, and by her son Barry (Diana) McCartney, of Chapleau. She was also loved by grandchildren Jennifer Vanderheyden, of Sault Ste. Marie and Jason (Kiley) Blum, of Sudbury, and by three great grandchildren, Rayann, Sheamus, and Elsa. Helen is also survived by one sister, Frances Goulah, of Tweed and fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Rose Moore and Celia Portt, and by one brother, Eugene Farrell. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Helen’s life will be held at the Tweed Curling Club on Tuesday, May 13th 2014, between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00 pm. Arrangements were entrusted to the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, Belleville (613-968-2273).

Memorial Donations in Helen’s memory, to the Heart of Hastings Hospice, Madoc, BGH Foundation ‘Cancer’ Fund, or to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
