Avis de décès de John WESTALL check_circle

It is with profound sadness yet joy for the amazing life we shared, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather at QHC à Belleville General Hospital on Saturday, July 29, 2017 in his 93rd year. Predeceased by his parents, John & Mildred Westall, his sister, June Thompson and his son, David Bruce (stillborn). He will be sadly missed by his wife, Alma, his daughter, Debbie, son-in-law, Howard Fiander, his granddaughter, Lisa, many brothers-in-law & sisters-in-laws and his cousins, Isabelle Hunt and Garth & Cheryl Westall. He was saddened and missed seeing his grandson, Geoffrey (Kim Hawkins) and three great granddaughters, Cassidy, Mya and Datsun. When he was a young lad, Jack enjoyed fishing on the Bay of Quinte when he visited his grandparents, Jack & Lillian McAfee. This was a really special time for him as he grew up in Toronto. Jack was a proud World War II Navy Veteran. He served on the Stradcona, Hochelaga and Ashleaf ships in Australian Waters. Jack and Alma (nee Lewis from Cascumpec, PEI) met and married in Toronto. They were married on August 31, 1949 and enjoyed 67 years of life together. Jack loved the years he spent working with his wife, Alma and daughter Debbie at Ja-Al-Dee Cottages in Havelock on the Trent River. They were there from the early 60’s until 73 and enjoyed building their business from 3 to 8 cottages with the addition of a pool. Jack loved interacting with the campers, playing horseshoes, fishing, swimming and working very hard. Jack retired May 5, 1983 from the Canadian National Railway where he served for 35.5 years as a Police Officer. When he retired, Jack & Alma enjoyed spending winters in Florida in their motor home. They had a great time going to Arizona in 1990, Alaska in 1991 and numerous trips east to Prince Edward Island. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 1st from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, 30 Moira Street West (613-968-2273). The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Lawrence Lewis, Jack’s brother-in-law officiating. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Corbyville. Memorial Donations to Hospice Quinte would be appreciated.
