Passed away peacefully at the Blind River District Health Centre on April 9th, 2014.
Glen is in his 85th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Joyce for 63 years. Loving father of Glenda (Mike), Randi (Jill), Cindy (Mike). Special Papa to Jeffrey (Gina), Angela (Alain), Rebecca (Ryan), Shannon, Christine (Chris), David (Stephanie), David (Krista). Joyfully remembered by his great grandchildren; Nicholas, Madelaine, Tyson, Makenzie, Olliver, Abigail, Hunter, Hayden, Jaxson, Korben, Benjamin. Dear son of the late Elswood and Lulu. Dear brother of Vivian (Shug), Sanford (Dolores), Lindsay (Laurette), Delbert (Alice) and brother in law to Bill (Frances), Shirley (Louis). Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Beachford, Pembroke; raised in Kirkland Lake, worked in the mining industry for most of his working career. Glen and Joyce also lived in Windsor, Iron Bridge, Sudbury and Blind River. Glen loved sports, he coached hockey and ball. He was an outdoor enthusiast. Glen was the president of the steelworkers union in the mid 1960′s in Pronto. He was a health and safety representative with McIsaac and always looked out for the best interest of people. Glen and Joyce followed their grand kids and great grandchildren in all their sporting endeavours. He will always be remembered as kind, gentle man with a big smile. A memorial service celebrating Glen’s life will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, Blind River, Ontario on Saturday April 12, 2012 at 1pm. Donations to Golden Birches Terrace gratefully accepted.
