Dr. Timothy Joseph Carlton, MD, FRCP(C)
March 15, 1960-December 17, 2016
With his loving family by his side on December 17, 2016, Dr. Timothy Joseph Carlton of Brantford passed away at the age of 56 from pancreatic cancer. Dearly beloved husband of Claudia (Weiss) and cherished father of Claire and Olivia. Tim is the beloved son of Ted and Barbara Carlton of Cambridge and will be greatly missed by his brothers and sisters: Chris (Nga), Elizabeth (Gary), Ted (Mary) and Victoria (Anthony). He is also survived by seven nieces and nephews: Matthew, Patrick, Jane, Laura, Ellen, Alex and James. He is also mourned by Claudia’s parents, Maria and Gunter Weiss of Burlington.
Tim was born in Galt, Ontario and attended Glenview Park Secondary School. Tim completed a BSc in Human Biology at the University of Guelph and a MSc in Pharmacology from Western University before graduating with his medical degree at McMaster University in 1987. Tim then pursued subspecialty training in respirology and practiced medicine in Brantford for over 20 years as part of the Avenue Medical Centre. Tim was held in high esteem by his colleagues and hospital staff alike. He established and served as Director of the Critical Care Unit at Brantford General Hospital. He was highly regarded by his patients as a remarkably caring, compassionate, and dedicated physician.
Tim will be remembered by those closest to him as a devoted husband, father, brother, son, and friend. Tim was blessed in finding his partner in life, Claudia, with whom he enjoyed 27 wonderful years of marriage. Together, he and Claudia built a home which was welcoming to everyone, and often the gathering place for their large extended family celebrations. Tim took great pride in the activities and accomplishments of his daughters. Despite his busy medical practice he was often to be found at their school or the dance studio. He particularly enjoyed skiing with his daughters, travel with his family, summers at the family cottages in Minden and Georgian Bay and many hours on the golf course with friends.
Friends and family will be received at the DENNIS TOLL FUNERAL HOME, 55 Charing Cross Street, Brantford on Tuesday, December 20th from 6-8 p.m., and on Wednesday, December 21st from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Basil’s Roman Catholic Church, 50 Palace Street, Brantford on Thursday, December 22nd at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Brant Community Healthcare System Critical Care Unit or the Brantford Christian School would be appreciated by the family.
