Joan Patterson of Burlington in her 87th year, passed away peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital on Friday, January 29, 2016. Beloved wife of the late Jack Patterson (2015) for 64 years. Much loved Mother to Craig Patterson and his wife Kathy. Devoted Grandmother to Sarah Gillard and her husband Matt and John Patterson and his wife Melissa. Very proud Great Grandmother to “baby Jack”. Joan will be missed by her family and many friends. Joan graduated from Toronto General Hospital as an RN in 1951. After marrying Jack, Joan worked alongside him in their business (John Craig Patterson Ltd.) for over 50 years. Joan was a long time active member of the Burlington Sailing and Boating Club. She was also a longtime member of the Zonta Club of Burlington. Joan was a devoted member of St. Matthew’s Church, member of the Altar Guild, the Spirituality Group and long time choir member. Joan traveled extensively and always enjoyed her winters in Florida with Jack. A Service of Remembrance will be held at St. Matthew-on-the-Plains Anglican Church, 126 Plains Rd. E., Burlington, on Tuesday, February 2 at 10:30AM, followed by interment in the St. Matthew-on-the-Plains churchyard. In lieu of flowers, Joan’s family would ask that donations be made to St. Matthew on-the-Plains Anglican Church.
