Challis, Marguerite Geraldine, RN, ART, CRT (nee MacNally)

A resident of Chatham, Marguerite Challis passed away peacefully on Friday, May 18, 2018 at Copper Terrace Long Term Care Nursing Home at the age of 93.

Born in Wallaceburg, Marguerite was the daughter of the late William & Alice (nee Avery) MacNally.

Marguerite was the loving wife of the late Kent Challis (2007).

Loving mother of Lucy Hartford and her late husband Gerald of Blenheim, William Challis (Roger Ali) of Hamilton & the late Kent Challis Jr. (1953).

Devoted grandmother of Miranda Klempner of Guelph & James Hartford (Linsey) of Blenheim.

She was thrilled to be a great-grandmother to Madden, Rhys & Beckett Klempner and Hudson & Natalie Hartford.

Dear sister of the late Thomas & Margaret MacNally, the late Ralph & Ilene MacNally, the late Eric MacNally, and the late Alice Workman.

Dear sister-in-law of Clifford Workman of Port Lambton, Ted & Josephine Challis of Chatham, Philip (late Anne & late Louise) Challis of Chatham, Harry (late Shirley) Challis of Sudbury.

Remembered by many nieces & nephews.

Having met through their shared love of motorcyling (Rondeau Riders), Marguerite & Kent were married on July 22, 1950. Marguerite was a graduate of Public General Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1945 and later attended school at Ottawa Civic Hospital graduating as a Registered Laboratory Technologist. In 1982, she earned her Cytotechnology Diploma from the Toronto Institute of Medical Technology. She retired from PGH in 1988 after a long & fulfilling career. Marguerite was an active member of the Girl Guides of Canada, Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Anglican Church Women and Thames Skating Club & Precision Team. She loved family, gardening, swimming, ice skating, camping and boating.

Family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the caring staff and new friends at Copper Terrace Nursing Home and to her caregivers at home, especially Regina & Simonne.

Family to receive family & friends on Monday, May 21, 2018 at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service for Marguerite will take place at 1:30 pm on Tuesday at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 81 Selkirk Street, Chatham with visitation from 12:30 pm until Service time. Burial to follow in Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.

Donations in memory of Marguerite may be made to the Foundation of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance or to the Girl Guides of Canada – Trillium Area.
