Peacefully, with her loving family at her side at Strathmere Lodge, on November 9, 2016, Jeannette A. De Vet, formerly of Arkona was called to eternal rest, in her 96th year. A loving and spiritual woman, she was the beloved wife of the late John A. De Vet for 56 years. Her kind and nurturing nature will be missed by her children, John and Deb De Vet, Arkona, Lucy and Wayne Sigurdson, New Hamburg, Peter and Rose De Vet, Forest, Regina and Leo Sanders, Watford, Mary and Joseph Terpstra, Union, Joanne De Vet, Kerwood, Jeannette and Doug Pedlar, Grand Bend, Linda Wellington, Lansing, Michigan, and Bernadette and John Holman, London. Loving Oma to 28 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. Jeannette was the last remaining member of her generation of the De Vet and Hendriks families. Predeceased by her son, Gary (2013), and her siblings Johanna Hendriks, Pieter Hendriks, Tony and Theresia Hendriks, Regina and Tony Cornelissen, Mary and Casey Devet, Lena and Jan Van Zon, Terre and Lies de Vet, Anna and Piet van Beek. Resting at the DENNINGS OF FOREST, 9 James Street South, Forest. Liturgy for a Christian Burial at St. Christopher’s Church on Saturday, November 12, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. with Father John Sharp and Father Tom Donohue as celebrants. Visitation at the funeral home on Friday, November 11 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with Family Prayers from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Private family burial immediately following at Beechwood Cemetery.
