Alvin “Al” MacKinnon, of Hanover, passed away at Hanover and District Hospital on Sunday, March 18, 2018. He was 81.
Born September 2, 1936, in Kenyon Township, to the late Daniel and Katherine (nee Brownell) MacKinnon. Al worked in sales for Ford leasing in Toronto and was a former member of the Oakville Optimist Club. Al and his wife Elsie would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on May 31st.
Devoted husband of Elsie (nee Miller) MacKinnon of Hanover. Dearly missed by his children, Andrew (Barb) MacKinnon of Hanover, Bruce MacKinnon of Bowmanville, Doug (Brenda) MacKinnon of Neustadt, Glen (Jane) MacKinnon of Seattle, and Catharine (David) Smith of Mount Forest. Fondly remembered by his grandchildren Michelle, Carla, Tyler, Calvin, Shelby, Jacob, Alex, Louisa and Rosie, and great-grandchildren Alessandra, Aurora, and Malakhi. Loved brother of Don (Donna) MacKinnon of Owen Sound, Gale MacKinnon (Judy) of Niagara Falls, Sandy (Linda) MacKinnon of Kingston, Karen Motherwell of Oakville, and Glenda (Wayne) Klein of Lindsay. Sadly missed by nieces and nephews and their families. Predeceased by his parents, brother Bob MacKinnon, and sisters-in-law Liz and Joan MacKinnon.
To honour his wishes, cremation has taken place and a family celebration of his life will be held on April 7th in Mount Forest. Arrangements entrusted to Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society or The Village-Residence Council would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy
