Anne passed peacefully at the F.J. Davey Home in Sault Ste. Marie with her family by her side, on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the age of 96. She was the beloved mother of Marlene Sawko (George) of Sault Ste. Marie. She was predeceased by the love of her life Alex and son John (Sharon). She was the proud grandmother of Justin Sawko (Raiva) of Brockville, Amanda Sawko (Mike Smykacz) of Sault Ste. Marie and Conan Sawko (Chelsea Holtom) of Sault Ste. Marie. Anne is the great grandmother of Bianca and Jonah Sawko of Brockville and Isla Smykacz of Sault Ste. Marie. Anne is also survived by daughter-in-law Sharon MacKinnon of Kirkland Lake and many nieces and nephews who were dear to her heart.
A longtime resident of Kirkland Lake, Anne moved to the F.J. Davey Home in Sault Ste. Marie in 2012 to be closer to her family. The family is sincerely thankful and grateful to the staff of Driftwood 3 for their professional, affectionate and gentle care to both Anne and her family. A proud WWII veteran and longtime legion member, Anne never missed a Remembrance Day service.
