Following a courageous battle with cancer, John passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital on Monday, August 1, 2016 at the age of 71. Beloved husband of Carrie for 34 years. Loving father of Amie Debrone (Sean Simpson), Miles Debrone (Agata Krolak) and Anna Debrone (Jared Rommens). Dear brother of Janice Punnewaert (Joe) and Marcia Miller (Brian Mallette). Son-in-law of John and the late Dorothy MacDonald. Brother-in-law of Cam (Linda) MacDonald and nephew of Pat Rowe. John was a longtime employee at the University of Waterloo (School of Architecture) and retired in 2008. Even in retirement he was not one to sit still. John worked part-time at Home Depot (Sunrise) so that he could continue to keep his hands on the tools of his trade. Whether travelling by train, boat or Mustang, life was an adventure and he loved every minute of it.
John’s family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Funeral Service in the Chapel on Friday, August 5, 2016 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow.
