Passed away at Innisfree House, Kitchener, with her husband at her side, on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the age of 74. Loving wife and best friend of Tom Delaney for 47 years. Much loved mother of Tracy (Dee), Christopher (Tina), Patricia, and Tom Jr. (Cherie). Special Grandma of Alex and Michael of Alberta, and Abigail and Sydney of Kitchener. Dear sister of James Kerr (Denise) of Alberta, Connie Sullivan (Brian) of Elmira, and Gordon Kerr (Jinny) of British Virgin Islands. Best friend of Gloria Parkyn of Kitchener and Freda Johnston of Bray, Ireland. She is predeceased by her parents Jim and Margaret Kerr, her uncle John and aunt Nessie Kerr, and sister-in-law Margaret Gallagher of Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow, Ireland. Sheilagh and her family came to Canada in 1953 from Glasgow, Scotland and settled in Kitchener. She met her husband Tom on September 18, 1969 and they were married on December 27th that same year. When they were married, she was a 27 year old widow with two sons, Tracy and Christopher, and they welcomed into this world Patricia in March 1971 and Tom Jr. arrived on his dad’s birthday in 1973. The family spent many summers camping all over Canada and the U.S. and their favourite campground was McGregor Point Provincial Park in Port Elgin. Sheilagh and Tom travelled to Ireland and to Sheilagh’s birthplace Glasgow, Scotland over 30 times, with trips to Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and the Canary Islands. They spent the last 17 winters in Florida where they will be sadly missed by the friends they made there.
Sheilagh’s family will receive relatives and friends from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519-749-8467. Visitation will continue on Sunday, August 21, 2016 from 10 a.m. – 12 noon where lunch will be provided during the family tributes at 11 a.m.
As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations to Innisfree House, Kitchener, would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
