Thomas Francis Cookà Entered into rest at Royal Gardens, Peterborough on Friday, October 7th, 2016 although he had been a proud Lindsay resident for most of his life. Tom was in his 100th year and was predeceased by Phyllis, his wife of 65 years, his eldest daughter Sharon Woolsey, his parents Philomene and William Cook, siblings Kathleen Begley (Norbert), Leona Tully (Vincent) and Flight Sgt Leo Cook (RCAF Hanover 1943).He was the much loved father of Sharon Woolsey (Gord), Kathy Pakenham (Bob),Susan Hamer (David) and Leo Cook (Leslie). Tom was the fun-loving Grandpa of Taryn and Chris Woolsey, Susie Pakenham (Matt MacKinnon) Carrie Hamer-Jonkhout (Jason Jonkhout) and Laura Hamer. Great-grandsons David and John MacKinnon were a great source of new entertainment. Tom was a 1939-1945 Veteran of the Royal Canadian Army and was a signalman serving in the Italian Campaign This undoubtedly helped to form a philosophy resonating to life’s close , that he would (live till I die and die when I can’t help myself) . Tom was a plumber/pipe and steamfitter spending the last 30 years of his career at Union Carbide but as importantly was an avid sportsman and fan with both talent and encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He loved gardening, politics and a well-reasoned argument.. We would like to thank the exceptional staff of Royal Gardens for their wonderful care over the past three years and Dr. R.D. Turner for the insightful management of his health. Tom was a man with a quick wit and tongue and a great sense of humour which will be missed by his family and many friends.
