Avis de décès de Louise FRENCH check_circle

We are sad to announce that our mother passed away, at the age of 91, on August 16, 2015 at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, following a valiant health struggle over the last seven months. Born in Toronto to William and Nellie Kimberlee, she was married to Leslie Harold French of East Angus, Quebec, in 1946. Loving mother to Susan (Albert) Lamberts, Evelyn (Brian) McDonald, John (Lucy) French and Anne (Lee) Munro. Cherished grandmother to Evelyn, Alyce, Carly, David, Tracy, Victoria, Kimberlee, John (Jay), Michael, Amy and Christopher. Great-grandmother to Ethan.

Alice and Leslie made their home in Toronto for many years, during which time she worked as an Accountant for Toronto Launderers, Falconbridge Nickel Mines, Revenue Canada and Roberts Cork. She had many professional “firsts” as a woman including being the first woman to be on the Audit Review Board for Revenue Canada in Ontario. During her retirement, she and Les moved to Gorrie and Mount Forest then, following Les’s passing in 1984, she moved to Mississauga in 1985 to be close to family. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice, she studied both voice and piano as a young woman and enjoyed doing both for much of her life. She also enjoyed flower gardening, making her yard a floral oasis. Knitter extraordinaire, every year up until last year she provided a constant flow of beautifully made mittens for children, grandchildren and church sales.

A member of Erin Mills United Church, she greatly enjoyed the companionship of her “Circle of Friends”. A quiet, private person, nevertheless with strong views, she led an independent life until last year. Her presence is greatly missed by her friends and family members. Thank you to the doctors and staff of Credit Valley Hospital, Wards 1D and 1E for their kindness and dedication.

Visitation at Turner & Porter “Neweduk” Chapel, 1981 Dundas St. West, Mississauga, from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2015. Funeral service on Friday, August 21, 2015 at Erin Mills United Church, 3010 The Collegeway, Mississauga at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour before and a funeral reception following in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to The Salvation Army, Alzheimer Society or Erin Mills United Church. Online condolences may be made at
