It is with great sadness the Best family announces the sudden passing of Helen Lyon on Friday July 13, 2012 at the age of 74 years. Betty actively pursued her many passions such as volunteering with various organisations and charities, travel, bridge, darts and when health permitted was an avid golfer and bowler. Predeceased by her parents George Gould and Jennie (née Huyck) and her brother Vernon Gould. Beloved wife of the late Ronald Best and the late Robert Lyon. Much loved mother of Maria, Michael (Carolyn Pick), Loretta (Doug McQueen), Doreen and Jerry (Doreen Brownrigg). Cherished grandmother of Karen (Charles Jonah), William Gaunt, Sheldon Best-Green, Jonathan Best-Green, Jushua Best-Green, Sarah Best, Alexandria Best, Eric Best and Janine Best. Also survived by her sister Estella McKenna and her second husband’s children; Bob Lyon and Marilyn Pineault. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Rd (between Bayshore and Baseline Rd), Nepean on Sunday July 22, 2012 from 4 to 8 pm. Memorial Service will be held in the chapel on Monday July 23, 2012 at 11 am. Those wishing, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated. Betty’s warmth and compassion will be missed by family, friends and all acquaintances that were fortunate enough to have known her.
