Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on July 28, 2013. Valerie was the loving wife of Daniel McDonald, mother and inspiration to her daughters Carla Liberta (Christopher) and Michelle Barillaro. She was the adored and loving grandmother of Mateo and Amilia Liberta, and step-grandmother of Bryan, Evan and Dylan Hartmann and Duncan McDonald. Much loved and very fondly remembered by Julie Hartmann (Bryce) and Andrew McDonald (Christina). She will be sadly missed by her surviving sisters Patricia Holmes (George), Loretta Keating (Ronald) and Carol Spencer (Dr William) and by her brother Michael Delduca (Sandra). She was (Aunt Val) and guiding light to several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, each of whom had a special place in her heart. Predeceased by her parents Myer and Louise Delduca. Valerie began her working life as a young girl at her father’s motel (The Homestead) where she learned the valuable life lessons which enabled her to be successful in her later careers at Intra Flarity Travel, as the owner of Hogan’s Restaurant, as business manager at a local automobile dealership and until recently as the manager of husband Daniel’s law office. In each of her careers Valerie made lasting friendships with work colleagues, customers and clients who will miss her humour and constant effervescence. She will be remembered for her kindness, wisdom, integrity and love of laughter, always seeing the positive side of every situation. Valerie always considered the comfort and needs of others before her own. A truly remarkable woman she will be sadly missed by all whose lives she touched.
Valerie’s family will receive friends at MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME 5917 Main Street, on Tuesday evening from 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass in celebration of Valerie’s life will be held on Thursday morning at 11:30 a.m. at St. Thomas More Church. Rite of Committal with entombment will follow at Fairview Mausoleum. Donations in Valerie’s memory may be made to the Hospital for Sick Children and directed to the (REMEMBER MIRANDA) fund code T8294 or to a charity of your choice.
