CURRY, William Ronald ‘Bill’

It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of William Ronald (Bill) Curry. Beloved husband of Anita (Boyer) for over sixty-eight years. Dearly loved father of Kathy (Eric) Dudson, Bill (Kathy Jo) and Veronica (Enzo) Tignanelli. Cherished Grandpa of Adam (Ritu) Tignanelli, Michael (Michelle) Tignanelli and Tim (Rachel Lay) Tignanelli. Dear Great Grandpa of Bavneet, Gurshaan, Ava, Ari and James. Bill was born in Windsor Ontario on June 9th, 1929. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Grace (Brown) and all of his siblings: Leonard, Carson (surviving Jean), Ethel, Dora, Jim (surviving Shirley), Marvel and Mary. Bill had been in failing health for a few years following a very full and rewarding life. He worked hard, played hard and adored his family. He was a professional boxer and wrestler who travelled North America with his wife and young family. He coached the wrestling team at Scollard Hall for many years following the end of his professional career. Bill was a very successful business man in car sales and leasing following his years in the ring. He owned Fischer Leasing until his retirement. Bill was a founding and lifelong member of the West Ferris Minor Hockey Association. He coached hockey for many years and gave tirelessly of his time to help the young hockey players become the best they could be on and off the ice. He was a very proud member of the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame and enjoyed many years attending the luncheons and swapping stories with other local athletes. Bill loved summers on Lake Nipissing, winters in Florida, the great outdoors, playing his guitar, classic country music, reading a good book, sharing a great meal, a cold beer and a laugh. In his later years, he enjoyed coffee with the guys every morning. His knowledge of local and world history plus a bit of the blarney from his Irish heritage made Bill a welcomed member of the group. Dr. Michael Leckie and his staff took exceptional care of Bill over the years and our family is so thankful for their competent, caring and devoted attention to our patriarch. Dr. Jinnah has our eternal gratitudefor her wonderful care during his last few days. Bill received exemplary care from the entire staff of B1 and D3 at the North Bay Regional Health Centre. We are forever grateful for their competent care and compassionate ways. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family celebration will be held to honour his life. Memorial donations in Bill’s name to KidSport North Bay would be gratefully acknowledged by his family. Funeral arrangements entrusted to McGuinty Funeral Home.

On the road again……you will be missed……rest in peace.
