Passed away peacefully on Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Beloved husband of Mary (nee Hennessy) for 64 years. Loving father to Deb (Kurt), Gail (Paul), Joanne, David (Kathy) and Gary (Raye Ann). Predeceased by his parents Alphonse and Philomene Comeau and his grandson Jesse. Will be lovingly remembered by his 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his brothers Joe, Adrian and Bob and sisters Antoinette, Juliette, Aline, Bernadette, and Jeanne, along with extended family and friends.
Del was born on May 1, 1930 in Belledune New Brunswick. He and Mary moved to Oakville to raise their family. Del was a highly-respected supervisor who worked at the Clarkson Refinery for 36 years. Mary and Del enjoyed winter retirement in Florida for 24 years and summers at their home on Sandlewood Road. Del could be found Tuesday mornings walking 18 holes on the golf course with his siblings and friends. Del enjoyed tending to the pool, gardens, fixing cars and teaching his grandchildren to swim.
Del’s family would like to thank the staff at OTMH for their care during the past 5 months.
Visitation will take place at Oakview Funeral Home in Oakville on Wed. March 8, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral will be held at Saint Dominics Parish in Oakville on Thur. March 9 at 10 am. Following the funeral, family and friends are invited to a reception at Knights of Columbus in Oakville.
