Suddenly and unexpectedly at home in Oshawa, on Friday, May 25th, at the age of 84. Son of Henrietta Murray and adoptive parents Judge John A McGibbon, and Mildred Ellis. Beloved husband of Dr. Dianne Boyd McGibbon. Dearly loved father of Meredith, Michelle (Kletke), Sandra (McAdams), Katharine and Kevin, Dear Father-in-law of Scott Kletke and Jason McAdams, treasured grandfather of Elijah and Tristan Kletke, Owen and Ryan McAdams and Cassidy McGibbon Culver, Cherished member of the Cognashene Community of Georgian Bay. Don and Dianne met as students at the Faculty of Medicine at University of Toronto, graduating in 1963. His chosen specialty was Youth Psychiatry, which remained his focus throughout his career. Don found great serenity working in his garden, composing his music, conversing with friends and family, the cinema, and breakfast. Visitation will be held at the Thornton Cemetery, 1200 Thornton Road North, Oshawa, ON, 905-579-6787 on Friday, June 1st from 11:00am to 1pm. Funeral services will take place at the same location on the same day (June 1st) at 1:00pm. Don believed steadfastly in trying to make the world a better place and donated to many causes, please make a memorial donation to the charity of your choice.
