Avis de décès de Hiram Holmes check_circle

After knocking many times, Heaven’s door finally opened to allow him in on August 6, 2016.
His family is taking comfort in knowing that his wife, Alice, who left this world in 1984, along with so many of his friends and family members, would be there waiting for him. Hiram was born in Vankleek Hill, ON. He worked in farming for many years before joining the Ottawa Board of Education, keeping many schools spotless and running in tip top shape. Nothing was more important than his family to Hiram. He had three children. Patricia (Dan), Barry (Collette) and Catherine (Dan), eight grandchildren, Kailyn, Ceara, Joshua, Jesse, Dillan, Alyssa, Anthony, and Breanna, and one great granddaughter, Rowan.
He was married for 12 years to his second wife, Myrtle, and remained close with her daughter, Connie Dagg. Along with many, much loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great -nephews, Hiram is survived by his sisters Pearlie Bowen, and Grace Linton, brother -in-law James McDonald and predeceased by five sisters and four brothers. Hiram spent most of his life as a very proud member of The Orange Lodge, The Old Time Fiddlers and many music and dance groups. Although his steps may have slowed down, and his voice may have softened, his toes tapped and he sang to the very end. The outpouring of love and support has been overwhelming, especially from his niece, Linda Sills, and her husband Michael, and his nephew and friend, Harry Hodges, who made daily trips to both the hospital and hospice. Also Aycel Cortez, who came into Hiram’s life as one of a special group of caring PSW ladies, and came often, on her own time, to sing hymns with him and hold his hand. Hiram may have taken the twinkle in his eye and his sweet smile with him, but he has left us all with memories of the special man he was. Many special thanks to the staff at Maycourt Hospice. Their respect and care of Hiram made his last days the very best they could have been.

An Orange and Black service will be held on Friday evening at 6:30.
