Avis de décès de Noel Peyton check_circle

Passed away peacefully, in his home surrounded by laughter, love and the singing of his family. Born in Dublin, Ireland, to William and Elizabeth, he was 19 when he came to Canada on a university scholarship from the Anglican Church to become a minister. He met his cherished wife of 56 years, Ursula, at the University of Saskatchewan. In 1961, he led the building of St. Stephen’s Church in MacDowall, Saskatchewan. In 1965, he came with his family to Ottawa as Chaplain, Ashbury College and was honorary assistant at St. Bartholomew’s (1965-75). Throughout his life, he assisted at churches in the greater Ottawa area and enjoyed reaching out to people. He was a full-time teacher for over 25 years at Bell High School, where he established the first co-op program, served a term as chief negotiator for OSSTF, and coached soccer and curling teams to provincial championships. After retiring in 1994, Noel and Ursula travelled extensively, and he began publishing poetry at the age of 63. Noel was known for his Irish humour, deep faith, incredible strength of spirit, love of all life had to offer, and being the best Grandpa ever! In his words: God in Jesus Christ and his church has been kind to me, I am enjoying God’s presence. Many are mourning Noel, including wife Ursula; children Ulrike and Jerry, Liam and Susan; sisters Emily and Gwen; his beloved grandchildren Tyler, Alyssa, Mikka, Christopher, William, Keenan; and great-grandchildren Kukilasa and Lilianna. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 17 at the Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel (2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa) at 1:45 p.m. Celebration (wake) at the Peyton residence on March 17 at 6 p.m.
