Peacefully surrounded by the love of his family, at Summit Place in Owen Sound, on Thursday morning, May 11th, 2017. John Robert Murton Hanbidge, of Owen Sound and formerly of Allenford, at the age of 93 years. Dearly loved husband of Joy Hanbidge (nee Kirkland) for 73 years. Dear father of Donn Hanbidge and his wife, Amanda, of London, Sherri Milroy and her husband, Will, of Owen Sound and father-in-law of Rick Hughes (Claire), of Ottawa. Proud grandfather of Courtney (Neil), Jenna, Matt (Jenn), Kelsey, Caleb, Natalie (Marc), Patrick and great-grandfather of Aidan and Kai. John will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, William and Susan Hanbidge; his much loved daughter, Kathryn Hughes (2013); his siblings, Ida (Percy) Waugh and Audrey (Earl) Palmer. John was born in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan and was raised in Dobbinton, Ontario. He proudly served in the Royal Canadian Airforce for 8 ½ years. He enjoyed his work at R.C.A. Victor and as a manager at Canada Manpower and was very much involved with his Allenford United Church family.
Friends may call at the BRIAN E. WOOD FUNERAL HOME, 250 à 14th Street West, Owen Sound, Ontario N4K 3X8 (519-376-7492) on Sunday evening from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service for John Hanbidge will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel, on Monday, May 15th, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Robert Gates officiating. Interment in Hillcrest Cemetery, Tara. If so desired, the family would appreciate donations to the Allenford United Church as an expression of sympathy.
