After a long illness, at home on Saturday November 12, 2016 in her 85th year. Barbara Hempstead (nee Thurston) of Pembroke, beloved wife of Howard Hempstead. Loved mother of Janet Hempstead (Bruce McGlashan), Ottawa, Steven Hempstead, Barry’s Bay, John Hempstead (Shelley), Prince George BC and Doug Hempstead (Oona Woods), Ottawa and the late Robert Mark Hempstead. Loving grandmother of Nicholas, Benjamin, Samantha, Christopher, Joseph, Lindsay, Laura, Derek, Lucy and Ruby. Dear sister of Grace Holmes, Orangeville. Predeceased by brothers Morris, Earle, Samuel and Norman Thurston and sisters Dorothy Brigley and Hilda Sweet. Barbara will be sadly missed by all her nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to share their memories of Barbara with her family during visitation at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 296 Isabella Street, Pembroke on Monday November 21 from 12 noon until 2 p.m. A Service to celebrate Barbara’s life and faith will be held in the Chapel at 2 p.m. Final Interment Dunsford Cemetery, Victoria County ON.
