It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Jan Wijnberger. Jan died peacefully, with his wife by his side at Bluewater Health, on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the age of 84. Beloved husband of Henny Wijnbergen-Both. Loving father of Lambert & his wife Maryke, Johan Lodewijk and Jan Everhard, all of Apeldoorn, Holland. Cherished grandfather and great-grandfather. Also survived by many brothers and sisters, cousins, neices and nephews in Holland. He will also be sorely missed by his new family in Canada; Robert, Belinda, Adam, Therese, Melissa and Arleigh. Jan was a truck driver, a mechanic by trade and owned a service station during his younger years. He also served as a police officer with the International Police Association in Apeldoorn, Holland for 25 years. After retirement in 2003, Jan moved to Canada and married Henny, his childhood sweetheart. He loved to travel and enjoyed building and fixing things. Always there to lend a hand, Jan was well liked by all his friends and neighbours. The family wish to express a heartful thank you to Dr. Chris Greensmith and the compassionate nurses at Palliative Care, Bluewater Health. Visitation at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, on Friday, July 15, 2016 from 2:00 à 3:00 p.m. A time of sharing will be held immediately following visitation in the McKenzie & Blundy Chapel at 3:00 p.m. Cremation will follow.
