FerreraFERRERA, Oliviero à Peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, May 29, 2015 at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Tommasa Anna (Santoro) for 59 years. Dear father of Fernanda Ferrera, Marisa Ferrera (Randie Rabideau) and Linda (Den) Ivanovich. Loving Nonno to Nicholas and Ryan Ivanovich. Predeceased by parents Domenico & Felicia Ferrera, sisters Erminia, Giuseppa, Donata and brother Carlo Giovanni. Also surviving are many other family members and friends in both Canada and Italy. Oliviero came to Sarnia from Vicalvi, Italy in 1953. He worked in the construction industry as well as running his own fencing business for several years. Oliviero was a founding member of the Dante Club and a member of the St. Peter’s Seniors Club. He will always be remembered for his (immenso amore) for his family and his truly generous heart. Oliviero’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Crombeen, Dr. Martin, and the wonderful Palliative Care Team for their outstanding care and compassion. Visitation will be held at the McKENZIE & BLUNDY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia, on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Church (Bright’s Grove) on Friday, June 5, 2015 at 11 a.m. Entombment Our Lady of Mercy Mausoleum. A tree will be planted in memory of Oliviero Ferrera in the McKenzie & Blundy Memorial Forest. Dedication service Sunday, September 20th, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wawanosh Wetlands Conservation Area.
