FARRAR, HELEN (May 26, 1918 à May 28, 2017): With deepest sadness, the family of HELEN (CARES) FARRAR announces her death on May 28, 2017, at the age of 99. Much loved mother of Jim East (Cathy) and proud and loving Grandmother of Kim Holford (Randy) and Sean East (Jacquie) and 7 Great-Grandchildren, Ryan, Amanda, T.J., Daniel, Jenna, Rebekah, and Emma. Helen was predeceased by her parents Harold and Pearl Cares and brothers Harold and Eugene Cares. Helen was a past president of Delta Chi Sigma Sorority, past officer of Hon. Alexander Vidal IODE, charter member of the Rainbow Singers, member of St. Georges Anglican choir, over 30-year volunteer in the Cancer Clinic at Bluewater Health, long-time member of the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club. She was a much-loved elementary teacher, fondly remembered by many students. On retirement, she received an Honorary Life Membership in the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario for her contribution to education in Lambton County and in Ontario, as a summer school staff member in London, Windsor and Toronto for 8 years in primary methods and special education courses. Helen enriched the lives of her family, her many friends, and the many children she taught. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her will understand that she approached life with joy, laughter, love and kindness. Helen’s family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Rosewood Manor and Afton Park Place for the love and care they provided. The nursing and PSW team members in the Maddison Wing at Afton Park Place were absolutely exceptional! Cremation has taken place and at Helen’s request a private graveside service will be held at a later date. Sympathy can be expressed through memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity near and dear to your own heart. Arrangements have been entrusted to the D.
