Peacefully at Afton Park Place on Friday, February 24, 2017, Harry Devos passed away at the age of 94. Beloved husband of Marguerite, father of Hans and wife Judy, Rob, Susan Glass and husband Larry. Loved stepfather of Sandra Leverton Jones and Mike Jones, Cathy and Rick Heslop, David and Karen Leverton, Alan Leverton. Greatly missed by his grandchildren Erika and husband Andrew, Vanessa and husband Kevin, Jessica and husband Paul, Rebecca and husband James, Miranda and husband Arnold, Jack, Joshua, John, Martin, Sarah, Chris, Alexandra and Erik. Also survived by several great grandchildren. Greatly missed by his sister Betty in Victoria, B.C. Also missed by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his first wife Jane, his parents and a brother. Harry was a survivor of a hard labour camp in Germany during the Second World War and emigrated from Holland in 1952. After working in the Toronto area for a while, he settled in Sarnia in 1953 where he was employed with various companies as an accountant. He retired from Steeves and Rozema. Harry and Marguerite enjoyed traveling in Europe and sailing on the lake. Harry was a member of Central Baptist Church. He also sang in the Polysar Glee Club and was a member of the Sarnia Writers’ Association. He loved to play pool at The Strangway Centre, play his keyboards and was an avid user of his computer. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Harry’s life will be held at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. A private burial of ashes will follow. Donations to the charity of your own choice would be greatly appreciated (cheques only at the funeral home please).
