t is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Harry Gorton on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospice at the age of 74. Harry will be missed by his beloved wife of 49 years Diane. Loving father of Howard Gorton of Vancouver. Proud granddad of Liam of Vancouver. Dear brother of Margaret (Rod), Jean (Bill) and Tony (Barb). Harry is survived by many nieces and nephews in Canada, England and USA. Predeceased by his mam and dad; Harry and Rose Gorton, his sister Pat and brother-in-law Jim. Harry is a retiree of Nova Chemicals and a proud volunteer of the Seafarers International Union of Canada. He will be remembered by his many friends at Ballroom Dancing. Harry’s sense of humour and friendship will be missed by all who knew him. The family would like to extend a special thank you to our close friends who gave us so much support over the past 18 months, as well to the many nurses and caregivers at home, Palliative Care and St. Joseph’s Hospice. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Thursday, July 23, 2015, at 2:30 p.m., with visitation held one hour prior to service. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Bluewater Health Palliative Care or St. Joseph’s Hospice (cheques only at the funeral home please).
