On June 15, 2015, Helen Grace Gray à beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed peacefully away at Vision Nursing Home at the age of 88. Predeceased by her husband Stuart Macaulay (1973) and her infant sons William Brian (1950) and John Wayne (1961). Helen will be deeply missed by Vern, her husband of 40 years and by her 3 children Jim Macaulay (Cathie), Janet Erickson (Howard), and Judy Hodgins (Mark). In addition, she leaves behind her much loved grandchildren Emily Hodgins, Nicole, Adam, and Aaron Macaulay, several great grandchildren and her sister Ann Gibson. Throughout our lives, Mom has always taught us the value of hard work, selflessness, love and mutual respect, and these life lessons will guide us always. Mom was a long time, dedicated member of 403 Wing Royal Canadian Airforce Association, serving many years as Wingette President, and was proud to have received a lifetime membership from that wonderful group of women. In addition, Mom was a member of Laurel Lea-St. Matthews Presbyterian Church’s Friendship Circle. Our sincere thanks for the compassionate support and loving care that both Mom and our family received from her nurses, PSW’s and staff at Vision Nursing Home. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Thursday, June 18, 2015, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Friday, June 19, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. Reception to follow at 403 Wing RCAF Association, 415 Exmouth Street, Sarnia. A private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to 44 Sarnia Imperial Squadron Air Cadets à a youth group she found most deserving of support, or CCMF à Community Concerns for the Medically Fragile.
