Peacefully, on Friday, June 3, 2016, at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Mabel Esther Logan (nee Ellis) passed away at the age of 94. Mabel was born to Herbert and Luella Ellis in Neepawa, MB on May 19, 1922; the eldest daughter of 8 children. Mabel is survived by her sons, Hugh (Candy Soehren) Logan and Garry (Lynn) Logan and grandchildren, Sarah, Annie, and Thomas. She is also survived by two sisters, Maxine McKay and Frances Gower. Mabel was predeceased by her husband, John (Bud) Ellwood Logan, and two sons, John Hugh Logan and Patrick Ellwood Logan. Also predeceased by her four brothers, Harold Ellis, Floyd Ellis, Lester (Pat) Ellis, Delmar Ellis and her sister Florence Holly. Throughout her life, Mabel was very active in the community. She was an inaugural member and 1st Vice President of the Lambton Seniors Association, a life member of the International Women’s Institute, a 65 year member of the Victory Chapter #50 of the Order of the Eastern Star Lodge and a 60 year member of St. Luke’s Church where she was the (Official) photographer. She was a lifelong competitor at all the local fairs in various crafts and a longtime representative for TriChem. Special thanks to the dedicated staff at Vision Rest Home and St. Joseph’s Hospice for their fantastic support of our mother. Family and friends will be received at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at St. Luke’s United Church, 350 Indian Rd S, Sarnia, on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception at the church hall. Interment to follow in Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice, St. Luke’s United Church or the charity of your choice (cheques only at the funeral home please).
