D’ARCANGELO, Anthony (Tony) Bartolomeo of St. Thomas, Ontario, passed away with his family by his side at London Health Science Centre à Victoria Hospital on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, in his 68th year. Beloved husband of Elena (nee Rapposelli) D’Arcangelo. Dear father of Mark (Helen) D’Arcangelo of St. Thomas, Danielle (Matt) Jones of Oakville and Andrea (Jesse) Lindsay of St. Thomas. Loving grandfather of J.D. and Marlee D’Arcangelo, Cuyler and Brennan Jones and Averie and Niyla Lindsay. He was the loved son of Anna (nee Di Renzo) D’Arcangelo of St. Thomas and the late Giustino (Joe) D’Arcangelo. Also survived by several in-laws, aunts and uncles, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Tony was born in Brecciarola, Italy on Jan. 1, 1947 and immigrated to Canada in 1952. He attended St. Joseph’s Catholic High School, graduating with honours . After graduating from Teachers College in 1967, he began his teaching career at St. Raphael’s Catholic Elementary School teaching grade six. Tony later went on to achieve his degree in Psychology, Geography and a specialist teaching degree also in Geography. He then completed his educational career at King’s College obtaining his Principal’s Course in 1980. After fourteen years as a classroom teacher, Tony was promoted to principal, beginning at St. Mary’s Catholic School, then to Monsignor Morrison Catholic School, then to St. Gabriel’s Catholic School, then finishing his career at St. Raphael’s Catholic School, retiring on Mar. 10, 2000. Tony was a great listener and a family man who loved being around his children and grandchildren. He had a passion for cooking, genealogy and gardening. Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Friday, August 8th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. (Prayers at 4 p.m.). The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Thomas on Saturday, August 9th at 10:00 a.m. Interment in Holy Angels’ Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Canadian Cancer Society are appreciated.
