FIELD, Mrs. Jean (nee McNames), formerly of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully at the Albany Retirement Village, Petrolia on Thursday, July 7, 2016, in her 101st year. Beloved wife for 62 years to the late Frank R. Field (Feb. 10, 2013). Dearly loved mother of Louise Koenitzer and her husband Bernie of Sarnia, and cherished grandmother of Ian Koenitzer and his wife Kimberly of St. Thomas. Also fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. The last surviving member of her own immediate family, Jean was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy McNames and Ruth Zimmerman, and four brothers, Alex, Gordon, Harold, and Howard McNames. Born in St. Thomas, ON, July 14, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Beatrice (nee McGugan) McNames. Jean was a former cafeteria worker at Ford Motor Company of Canada’s St. Thomas Assembly Plant. During the Second World War, she served with the Royal Canadian Navy (Wrens). In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no public visitation or funeral service. A private graveside service will be held at Elmdale Memorial Park, St. Thomas.
