Gethons-Johnston, Helen of St. Thomas, passed away Sunday, January 26th, 2014, surrounded by her loving family, in her 80th year. Beloved wife of Richard (Jerry) Johnston and loved mother of Debbie Coulter of St. Thomas and step-mother of Theresa Johnston of St. Thomas. Predeceased by a sister Jacqueline Churchill. Dear sister-in-law of Wayne Johnston (Paula), Bill Johnston (Ruth) and Pat Axon, all of St. Thomas. Predeceased by a sister-in-law Nancy Johnston. Helen was born in Orillia on August 12, 1934, the daughter of the late Mary (Santimo) Hopkins and Harold Hopkins. Sadly missed by a number of aunts, uncles and nieces and nephews. Helen worked at OCE. She had been a member of the Club 55 Bowling League.
A Memorial service to celebrate Helen’s life will be held at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Visitation at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:30-1:30 p.m. Cremation has taken place, with private interment of ashes in Fingal Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Society of Elgin.
