Griffin, Thomas (Tom) Gilbert of R.R. 4 St. Thomas, passed away on Thursday, March 6th, 2014, in his 73rd year. Dearly loved wife of Norma (Bainbridge) Griffin and loved father of Brad (Jan) Griffin of Sparta, Janice (Wayne) Nichols of St. Thomas and Cheryl (Bruce) Frew of Sparta. Predeceased by an infant son James Charles Griffin. Dear brother of John (Laura) Griffin, Betty (George) Lidster, late Colin Griffin and his wife Shirley and the late Roy Griffin (late Jean). Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Tom was born in St. Thomas on March 24th, 1941, the son of the late Edward and Madeline (Millman) Griffin. Tom worked over 30 years with G.M.Diesel (Locomotive Department). He was a member of St. Anne’s Church. Tom was a Master Builder of birdhouses. He was a past president of the Union Sports Club. He coached and was a master scorekeeper with Bud’s Body Shop and Shaw’s Ice Cream baseball teams. He also maintained the Union ball diamond a number of years and was convener of many tournaments at the Union field.

Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral service will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow in Union Cemetery. Visitation Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and Monday from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Elgin Hiking Trail.
