After a long and courageous battle, Kathleen left us peacefully on Sunday, May 24th, 2015 at the age of 59, surrounded by her family. She was a loving wife of 40 years to Stephen McConville and beloved mother of Tony (Valerie), Gavin (Jennifer), Conor (Stephanie), and Niall (Liana). She will be greatly missed by her eight grandchildren Ava, Declan, Liam, Mairead, Neave, Madelyn, Owen and Cillian. Kathleen is predeceased by her parents Jeff and Margaret Byrne and her sister Margretta (Jim) McGuinness and will be sadly missed by her sisters Phil (Billy) Leicester and Eunice (Don) Neary and her brother Pat (Marie) Byrne. Kathleen was born in Newry, N. Ireland and immigrated to Canada with her young family. She diligently worked for 25 wonderful years at CIBC and retired as a Small Business Manager. Her love and closeness of her family was her greatest joy. She truly enjoyed every family gathering. She will be fondly remembered by many friends and family in Canada and in Northern Ireland. A special thanks to Dr. R. Foley, Nurse Karen, Nurse Toni, Dr. F. Fraser, Dr. B. Bielecki and all the staff at Juravinski Hospital for their compassion and wonderful care. Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 454 Highway #8 (east of Millen Road) STONEY CREEK (905-664-4222) on Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. with a Prayer Vigil at 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church, 934 Highway #8, Winona on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. Interment Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Juravinski Hospital or the Cancer Assistance Program of Hamilton (CAP) would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
