Nellie Green, April 16, 1911 – February 11, 2016, Nellie Lillian Green, a lifelong resident of Stratford passed away peacefully in her sleep at Cedarcroft Place, Stratford on Thursday. Nellie is survived by her daughter Marguerite Pilger (Charles); granddaughters Colleen Pilger and Denise Vanier (Carl). Grandsons Neal Pilger (Jennifer Pegg), Kim Pilger and Stephen Shrubshall. Great grandmother of Sydney and Megan Morrison, Benjamin and Nathaniel Pilger. She will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Nellie was predeceased by her parents Joseph (Harry) and Louise (Smith) Betts, her husband William Green, her oldest daughter Helen Shrubshall and siblings May Roth, Winifred Burnett, Harry Betts, Donald Betts and Rose Billo. Nellie was active for many years in St. Johns Ambulance, Order of The Eastern Star and the Stratford Bowling League. She was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Stratford. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Tuesday, February 16, from 12 noon until the time of the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Dr. Hugh Jones will officiate. Interment at Avondale Cemetery.
