With profound sadness but with deep gratitude for her long life, her family announce the passing of Mary Kate Sheridan (Reilly) on December 16th, 2016 in Sudbury at 98 years old at Pioneer Manor.
Mary was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Tom (2006). She was born in Drumhaldry, Co. Longford, Ireland on October 12th, 1918, the daughter of John Reilly and Anne Masterson. Tom and Mary immigrated to Canada and settled in Sudbury to start a new life and raise a family. Mary’s family was always a source of her greatest JOY. She was so proud of their many accomplishments!
Adored and much loved by all her family, Mary is survived by her daughter Geraldine (Doug) and sons Francis (Patricia), Michael (Louise) and Joe; grandchildren Tara, Shauna (Art), Colin, Philip, Kyle (Katherine), Kaitlin (Andrew) and Tori (Andrew); great-grandchildren, Seamus, Jacks, Caleb and Kyra.
Mum will be remembered for her zest for life. She was well travelled, her many trips home to Ireland, Las Vegas, the Caribbean and Toyko, Japan. She was a competitive checker player, and enjoyed playing cards and board games. Mum was a dedicated knitter, donating mittens to charity.
The family wishes to thank and recognize mum’s best friend Flora Kari for her loving friendship and devotion.
We also express our heartfelt thanks to the caring staff of the Mallard section at Pioneer Manor for the compassionate care that mum received.
Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Hope Church, 591 Brennan Rd, Sudbury, on Wednesday, December 21st, 2016 at 10:30am. Interment in the family plot at the Civic Memorial Cemetery.
