67 years, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham after an eight year long battle with hemochromatosis. Beloved husband of Kathy (nee Lemieux) Cottingham. Loving father of Jason Troy (Suzanne Mather) Cottingham, Jacob Allan (Kim) Cottingham, Jordan Bradley (Candice) Cottingham. Devoted grandfather of Michael and Melissa Cottingham, Nolan Gardiner, Skye, Kyah, and Ava Cottingham and Kinsey and Lennon Cottingham. Dearest son of Dugan and Kathleen (nee Thomas) Cottingham. Dear brother of Kim (Liz) Cottingham, Corrie (Larry) Goodreau, and Chris (Laurie) Cottingham. Also loved by many in-laws, nieces and nephews. Always an entrepreneur, Allan was an owner of Cottingham Tire, Tilbury, for over 51 years. He worked with his grandfather Ray Cottingham and his father Dugan Cottingham, along with his brother Chris and sons Jacob, Jason, and Jordan. A former Kinsmen, Allan was a very kind and generous man and would give the shirt off his back. He has made countless donations to various charities both personal and through his business. Anyone who knew him will remember him for his smile and jokes. He always knew how to lighten any mood and bring humour to any situation. He will be greatly missed and remembered for many years to come. His legacy will last a lifetime through his children, grandchildren, and countless stories shared and shared again. In Allan’s last moments he was surrounded by family. He left this life to his new life swiftly and comfortably. He now looks down on us with his bright smile and positive energy and will be our guardian angel until we meet again. Visitation at Reaume Funeral Home, 6 Canal St. W., Tilbury for family only from 2-4 p.m. Saturday and for the public from 6-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Sunday. Funeral Service from the funeral home Monday, December 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., then to St. Francis Xavier Church, Tilbury for Mass at 10:30 a.m. Cremation to follow. Following the Funeral Mass Al’s family invites their family and friends to the Dockside On The Cove at Lighthouse Cove to share stories of Al. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to St. Francis Xavier Church Building Fund, Rotary Club of Tilbury Foundation, or the Gene Goodreau Patient Assistance Fund appreciated.
