Passed away peacefully, with family by her side, at the Maple Manor Nursing Home on Thursday, October 15th, 2015, Gabrielle Yvonne (Vandergunst) Smith, formerly a longtime resident of Pine Street, Tillsonburg, at the age of 92. Gabrielle, was a dedicated former employee for over thirty years at the former Livingston’s Industries, Tillsonburg, retiring in 1988. Born in Torhout, W.F. Belgium, daughter of the late Rene Vandergunst(1971)and the late Irma (Verhaeghe)Vandergunst(1940)and step-mother Marie L. Vandewolde (1992). Predeceased by her husband of thirteen years William James Smith (1969). Much loved mother and mother-in-law of: Beverley Smith and husband Dean Culp,Tillsonburg; Bonnie McMaster and husband George McMaster Sr.,Thamesford; Kevin Smith, Tillsonburg. Proud and loving grandma of Tony Culp (Sheena Ewen); Hilary Culp; Crystal McMaster and George McMaster Jr. Loving sister of Margaret D’Hulster, Alice VanDaele, Yvonne Myny and the late Rosemarie Legein and step-sister Gusta Davis. (Gusta) Santschi, husband Wilfred Davis- Clarke, Elaine Hanley (husband Jack). Predeceased by all her brother-in-laws: Oscar Legein, Maurice Jonckheerr, Raymond D’Hulster, William Myny, Frank VanDaele, Lucien Gadal and Gervan Stoner (Rosemary Stoner). Also, predeceased by her mother-in-law Margaret Benson and Samual Benson. Gabrielle is predeceased by a nephew Cary Myny and a great-nephew Dylan D’Hulster. Family and friends will be received by the family on Monday, October 19th, 2015 from 10:00am until 11:00am at the Verhoeve Funeral Home Tillsonburg. Funeral liturgy service to be conducted on Monday, October 19th, 2015 at 11:00am in the Verhoeve Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Father Tom Ferrera. Inurnment to follow in the Tillsonburg Cemetery.
