It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Norma Joyce Cornblat after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Norma passed away at Toronto General Hospital on August 21, 2017 at the age of 71.
Norma is predeceased by her parents, Isaac and Cecilia Cornblat of Ottawa.
Norma is survived by her loving husband, Frank Bitonti of 35 years, and two children, David Bitonti (Marc Bardwell) and Daniel Bitonti (Cathleen Finlay). Norma and Frank were married in Toronto on August 5, 1982. Norma is also survived by her sister Charlotte Teeple of Toronto, her brother Mark Cornblat (Jane dePaulsen) of Ottawa and her niece Anna Teeple (Rod Murphy) of Ottawa.
Norma is also lovingly remembered by the Bitonti family in Sault Ste Marie. She is survived by her mother-in-law, Barbara Bitonti, sister-in-laws, Theresa Zanatta (Rick) and Rose Bruni (Marchi), brother-in-laws, Tony Bitonti (Julie) and Joe Bitonti (Beverley) from Halifax. Norma cherished the time she spent with many nieces and nephews and the in-laws she loved so dearly.
Above all else, Norma was a dedicated mother, wife and friend. Everyone who knew her remembers her gentle nature, warmth sincerity and compassion. Even during her illness, Norma fought hard every day to be there for her family and friends. She was so easy to love and she loved so many.
Norma will also be remembered as someone who loved being active. A perfect day for her always included a long walk, and later in life travelling became a true passion. She was an avid reader, loved movies and was eternally curious about exploring the world around her.
Cremation has taken place. The family will be having a private Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 26, 2017.
