Sister Mary Ruth Creamer, CSJ (Eileen Ruth)

Died peacefully at St. Joseph’s Residence, 2 O’Connor Drive, Toronto, Ontario on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, in the 74th year of her religious life. She is predeceased by her parents, Charles Creamer and Ann Curran,

her sisters, Rita, Loretta, and Clare, and her brothers, Basil and Norbert. She will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews, as well as by her friends and Sisters in Community.

Eileen Ruth Creamer entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto, September 8, 1941, and was given the religious name of Sister Mary Ruth.

Before entering the Congregation, she trained and worked as a Registered Laboratory Technologist, at St. Joseph’s Health Centre. Following her novitiate she returned to St. Joseph’s and continued her ministry in the laboratory for the next 22 years. She advanced her studies to obtain a Licentiate and Fellowship in Laboratory Technology.

Following her many years at St. Joseph’s, where she never tired of serving the dear neighbour with generosity of spirit, Sister Mary Ruth was missioned to Providence Healthcare where she established the laboratory as a licenced facility and became a Registered Cardiology Technologist. She continued her ministry there for many years and after retiring continued as a volunteer in the laboratory.

In 1996, Sister Mary Ruth moved to St. Joseph’s Convent, Morrow Park, where she worked in medical records for St. Joseph’s Infirmary. Recently she was engaged in prayer ministry for the global concerns of the poor.

Visitation will take place at St. Joseph’s Residence 2 O’Connor Drive, on Friday, October 30, 2015 from 3:30 pm. to 5:00 pm. with a prayer vigil at 7:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel at 2 O’ Connor Drive, Toronto. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
