HOCKLEY, Carolle Edna (nee Barton)

Uxbridge Chapel

It is with profound sadness we mourn the loss of our beloved, gracious, and tender hearted wife of Earl Hockley of 55 years; mother of Pamela, Louise and Brenda (Evan); grandmother of Melissa (Sean), Chris (Claire), Ryan, Luke (Katie), Jake (Ceilidh), Kyle and Jenelle, great-grandmother of Dylann, Bradley, Britton, Hayden, Hunter as well as a sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Mom passed away peacefully in her sleep after a courageous acceptance of her illness on Thursday, March 3, 2016 with her daughters and friends at her side. Mom genuinely loved life and lived it to the fullest. She had a passion for doing and giving. She was an avid golfer, health enthusiast (often beating a path on one of Uxbridge’s many beautiful trails) and gardener, providing a safe haven to many wild creatures that entered her back yard. The many birds, squirrels and chipmunks that frequented mom’s back yard found sanctuary in her pristine gardens. Yet with all that, she always found plenty of time and energy to create special moments for her many family and friends. Mom maintained a career as an Insurance Broker for nearly 30 years, raising three daughters with time aside to coach her daughter’s in softball, teach Sunday School at the United Church in Uxbridge, was a 4H and Brownie Leader, hospital auxiliary volunteer, canvassed for the heart and stroke society as well as piano teacher, having succeeded in achieving her Grade VIIII with the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto. Mom was most happy spending time with her family and considered her closest friends as family. She never missed a birthday and put every effort into being a part of special occasions leaving lasting memories for all. This is Mom’s greatest legacy to all that were gifted by her thoughtfulness. Mom always saw humour in life events and never missed the chance to laugh at herself as much as we were laughing along with her. As our Mom taught us, take time to smell the flowers. Maybe hold them tightly, with an equality of understanding. Touch each and every one, with the comfort and love that is their destined role on this ride called life. Light the way . . .

Visitation will be held at the Low and Low Funeral Home, 23 Main St. S., Uxbridge (905-852-3073) on Monday, March 7, 2016 from 5-8p.m. A Celebration of Carolle’s Life will take place at St. Paul’s Leaskdale Presbyterian Church, 12251 Regional Road 1, Leaskdale on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 2-5p.m. with Remembrance’s of Carolle being shared at 2:15p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital. Mom’s three daughters wish to extend our sincerest gratitude for the exemplary care they have shown our mother as well as us during her final days. To Dr. St. John, thank you, thank you.
