Maurice Jean Sarrazin passed away peacefully with family members by his side at the Prescott-Russell Residence at the age of 87. Survived by his wife, Marie-Paule (Duchemin) of Hawkesbury. Also survived by his daughter, Mariette Barr (Greg) of Alexandria; sons Jean-Maurice (Louise Sproule) of Vankleek Hill, Robert (Maxine) of Ottawa, Richard (Linda) of Hawkesbury and daughter Suzanne Gregory (Nigel) of New Zealand. He will be missed by his grandchildren: Jeremy, Aaron, Jessica, Rebecca, Paul-André, Sebastien, Jeffrey, Stephen, Kristen, Michael and Megan. Predeceased by one granddaughter Sara. He also leaves four great-grandchildren: Noah, Olivia, Avery and Lucas. Predeceased by his sister Réjeanne. Survived by his brother Claude (Claudette) and his sister Rollande Caubel (the late Yvon) all of Montreal.
Maurice was a steadfast husband and father, devoted to his family. He will be remembered for his quiet faith and contentment with what he had.He could have been the inventor of recycling, repairing and repurposing many household items, appliances and cars during his lifetime.
Friends may pay their respects at Hillcrest Funeral Home at 151 Bond Street in Vankleek Hill on Friday, March 18 from 1 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 3 p.m. at the Vankleek Hill Baptist Church, 156 Main Street East, Vankleek Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society, P.O. Box 1852, Cornwall, Ontario K6H 6N6 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, 36 Second Street East, Cornwall, Ontario K6H 1Y3 would be appreciated by the family.
