Peacefully, with his family by his side, the Lord took Joe’s hand and led him home. Among the many that thank God for opportunity to have known Joe are his wife Margaret, his children Bryan & Geri, Cynthia & Jeff VanDalen, and Wayne and Rachel. Fun and loving memories will be treasured by his grandchildren, Trevor, Justin, Chantelle, Julia, Melissa, Nicholas, Owen and Elliott. Joe was a man of faith, integrity, strong character, and someone who valued his family and friends. Also missing his presence will be his siblings, Jake and Jenny, Tony and Jennie, Janette Bos (Bert), Adrian and Karen Kloet (Ann), Greta and Bill Kroeze, Riekie and Bob Kramer, Ruth Jonjejan (Rick), Al Vanderzwaag (Jeanette), Frances Voortman, Janie Mulder (Pete), Clara and Jack Bootsma-Hoekstra (Clarence) and Jane Drost (Luke). His in laws will also miss him, Harriet and Ross James, Wilma and Ed Gringhuis, Kerry and Pam Boonstra, Jenny Jaskot, Wally and Cynthia Boonstra and Dorothy and Brian Trebych. He will also be lovingly remembered by a great number of extended family and friends. Special thank you to Dr. K. Comeau and Dr. A. Kapoor for their excellent attention to Joe’s medical needs while he battled cancer. Thanks also to the palliative care team and the VONs who came to visit daily and delivered compassionate care above and beyond. Friends and family will be received at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown on Thursday from 3:00 to 5:00 and from 7:00 to 9:00. A Celebration of Joe’s Life will take place on Friday at BETHEL CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH at 616 Dundas Street E., Waterdown on Friday, July 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Private interment will be held before the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider donations to the Rotary Club of Waterdown or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
