Surrounded by her family, Norma J. Hanes passed away on Monday, February 23, 2015 at the age of 88. Daughter of the late George and Annie Hunter. Beloved wife of William for over 68 years. Dear mother of Joyce Nisbet (Bruce), Ken (Faye), Janice Walker (Earl), Jim (Lorie), Anne Donkers (Frank), Brenda Stewardson (Jeff), and an infant son who passed away in 1948. Loving grandmother of 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her brothers Howard, Calvin, Lyle, Hugh, Charlie, Ken and by her sister Mary. Sister-in-law to Iris Hunter and Phyllis Hunter. Norma will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews. Norma was a life member of the Rockton Women’s Institute, held many offices, also lead 4-H Homemaking Clubs for years. Life member of the Rockton Agricultural Society, and also a member of Rockton United Church. Recieved an Ontario Volunteer Service award. Enjoyed many years sewing, knitting and quilting. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 p.m and 6-8 p.m. at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown, where a Funeral Service will take place on Monday, March 2, 2015 at 11 a.m., with a reception at the Rockton Fairgrounds Hall, 812 Old Highway 8, Rockton. Cremation to follow, with private interment at Grove Cemetery, Dundas. Donations in memory of Norma may be made to the Rockton United Church, or a charity of your choice.
