DESMOND, Leonard Charles – Born December 12,1943 in Woodstock Ontario, passed away November 24, 2016 at the Chatham-Kent Hospice following a lengthy battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Patricia Ann Desmond (nee Lock). Cherished father of Angela (Tim Masson), Kerry (Jack Bingham) and Sharon. Loved grandfather of Deidre (Chris), Bethany (Tyler), Drew, Chantel (Bobby) and Jacob. Dear brother of Sandra (Doug) Johnston, Michael Desmond and brother-in-law of Brenda (Igor) Guarnaschelli. Len was an uncle and great uncle to several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Florence (nee Andrews) Desmond, sister Sylvia Penfold and brothers Robert “Bobby” and David Desmond. Also survived and greatly missed by his feline friends Minnie, Scooter and Tiger. Len was an avid boater spending numerous summers at Long Point, Turkey Point and travelling the Trent Severn Waterway. Len and Pat recently returned back to Ontario after residing in Florida for many years. Len enjoyed many successful years as a realtor in the Woodstock and Ingersoll areas as well as South West Florida. Previously, Len had worked at Fisher Controls, Timberjack and Alcan. Friends may call at the Brock & Visser Funeral Home, 845 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, 519-539-0004, on Tuesday November 29th , 2016 from 5-8pm, and again on Wednesday, November 30th 2016 from 10-10:45 am where the funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home Wednesday, November 30th , 2016 at 11am with Pastor Lloyd Bennett officiating. Interment to take place in the Innerkip Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Len’s memory to the London Regional Cancer Centre, or Oxford County Animal Rescue.
