Avis de décès de Charles Childs check_circle

Charlie Childs, husband, father, brother, son, ever the adventurer, ever the athlete, ever the rock, departed from us on Wednesday, January 14, 2015. Charlie married the prettiest, smartest young woman he ever laid eyes upon, and together they created a home and raised a family. Charlie was a trusted financial and investment advisor. He cared about his clients and their financial well-being. He had a zest for life: football player at WCI, hockey coach, thrill-seeker bicycling down a volcano in Maui in his mid-70s. Charlie was a loving partner and great friend. He brought a love of cribbage, crokinole and ping pong to his grand-kids. His competitive spirit never waned. He was the last surviving adult child in the legacy of an Irish Catholic and English Anglican family union that had deep roots in Woodstock. Charlie was close to his faith, close to his family, always a part of his community. He lived all of his days in Woodstock, except for a year at The Maples Home for Seniors, where the good people of Tavistock opened their hearts to him. He returned to his beloved Woodstock for his final four years and was well loved and cared for by the staff and community at Woodingford Lodge. He lived in good health for 88 adventuresome years. He is now at rest, because it is time, but we will not forget him. Charlie was married to Leslie Mae Wall who hailed from Wingham, Ontario. Together they raised four children: George, Paul, Anne, A. Charles. His family grew to include: Gary Hale, husband of Anne; Andrea Kelman, partner of Paul; grandchildren: Patricia (Hale) Smith and husband, Kyle; Jennifer Hale and partner, Oskar Petersons; Catherine Hale; Matthew, Benjamin and Rebecca Childs; great-grandchildren Raymond and Eleanor Smith. Friends will be received at Smith-LeRoy Funeral Home, 69 Wellington Street North, Woodstock on Sunday, January 18, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral Mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1420 Devonshire Avenue, Woodstock, on Monday at 11.00 a.m. Interment at St. Marys Cemetery in the Spring
