Betty Loreen Hext (nee Nickels) of Wyoming, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospice on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the age of 73. Beloved wife of Robert (Bob) Hext for nearly 50 years. Loving mother of Tammy (Noel) Bowes of Burlington, Pamela Hext (Mark LeRuez) of Prince George, BC, Kerri (Jason) McKichan of Petrolia, and Scott Hext (Marlene Blain) of Oakville. She was the loving grandmother of Sydney and Aidan McKichan, Evan Bowes, Jenna and Kensey LeRuez, and Jordyn Hext. Dear sister of Ruth (Don) Pethick and their children. Betty will be missed by her brothers-in-law Rick (Liz) Hext, Dave (Janet) Hext and Jim (the late Tracy) Hext, and her nieces and nephews. Betty’s greatest joy in life was teaching children and even after retiring was still known to tell great stories about the children she taught. Visitation will be held at the WYOMING CHAPEL, 650 Broadway St., Wyoming on Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 1-4pm and 7-9pm. A funeral service will be held at the Wyoming United Church, 730 Second St., Wyoming on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 1pm. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery. Special thanks to: the personnel at Community Care Access Centre; the nurses from the VON; the doctors and nurses of St. Joseph’s Hospice; and the doctors and nurses of the Oncology Department of Bluewater Health.
