It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rosario Clemente DeThomasis. Born June 03, 1925 in Abbateggio, Italy, Rosario passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on November 30, 2015 at the age of 90 years. Beloved husband to the love of his life Carmela (Di Marco) for 57 years. Cherished father of Connie Rosati (Ray), Angelo DeThomasis (Janice) and Tony DeThomasis (Janet). Loving Tatone to Vanessa Kurucz (Rich), Victoria Rosati, Carson, Curtis and Camille DeThomasis and great Tatone to Brodie Kurucz. Dearest brother to Anna and Assunta of Abbateggio, Italy. Predeceased by his parents Arcangelo and Concetta (nee DiCesira) and also his sisters Elena, Grazietta, Maria (Vincenzo), Giovinna (Vincenzo) DeThomasis and Lucia Scipione (Paolo). Beloved brother in law of Vittorio DiMarco (Maria) of Chieti, Italy. Predeceased by brothers and sisters in law Grazietta and Arnaldo D’Orazio, Amedina and Constantino Pagliarella, Raffaele and Maria DiMarco, Guido and Cesina DiMarco and Assunta and Carmen Lupone. He will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Rosario immigrated to Canada from Italy in 1951 where he worked in construction and at Marra’s Bread before receiving his seniority and retiring from General Chemical after 33 years of service. Rosario was a very hardworking man, making sure he always provided a good life for his family whom he cherished. He loved his garden and spent countless hours tending to his vegetables and sharing his bountiful harvest with his family and neighbours. We will always carry his memory in our hearts and will miss him very much. Donations made to the Windsor-Essex Cancer Centre Foundation would be appreciated by the family. A special thanks to CCAC for all of their compassionate care especially his primary nurse, Sal. Visiting on Thursday, December 3, 2015 from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m with Parish Prayers at 4:30 pm. Funeral Service Friday, December 4, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. from FAMILIES FIRST 585 Sandwich St. S., Amherstburg 519-969-5841 to St. John the Baptist Church for Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Entombment Rose Hill Cemetery.
